David John Cronin, 30, pleaded guilty in the Launceston Supreme Court in December to multiple counts of having made communication with the intent of exposing a person under the age of 17 years to indecent material, one count of having possessed child exploitation material, and one count of having accessed child exploitation material.
Police recovered 1921 items of child exploitation material from from Cronin's possession, which were mostly images.
Today Justice Robert Pearce jailed Cronin for 18 months, backdated to August 6, 2013, with a non-parole period of nine months.
He also order Cronin to serve a 12-month probation order upon his release.
