Mayor Sarah Schmerl is inviting members of the public to the 2014 Australia Day celebrations at the Portland Hall, St Helens, 9am-1pm including brunch. Local producers from the mountain to the sea will promote their products and listen to local band "Beat Keepers" and sample some fine food.
BURNIE CITY
The Australia Day awards and citizenship ceremony will be held at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre from 10.30am. This event includes the presentation of citizen, young citizen and community event of the year awards. The ceremony will be followed by a special citizenship ceremony, celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Australian Citizenship, followed by a free morning tea in the Town Hall Foyer.
CENTRAL COAST
The Central Coast Council is celebrating what is great about Australia by hosting an Australia Day breakfast by the Leven, at Anzac Park, from 8.45am. A free breakfast will be provided by local service clubs, as well as live music and kids entertainment. The awards and citizenship ceremony starts at 9.30am. Bring a chair and enjoy the celebrations.
CHUDLEIGH
Australia Day Community Breakfast at the Chudleigh Hall and gardens from 8am. Cost: $15 per person with under 10's free.
CIRCULAR HEAD
Come and celebrate Australia Day at the annual Twilight on the Duck event being held at West Esplanade, Smithton. Enter the duck cast fishing competition at 10.30 and acknowledge the winners of the Australia Day awards at 3pm. Entertainment for the whole family on offer. Great music, fabulous food and activities for the kids. Includes the duck pedal (37.5km bike challenge), the duck dash (7km/4km run) and the duck race. The evening concludes with a fireworks display at 9.45pm.
DEVONPORT CITY
Sun, surf and a beach party for all ages at the Bluff will be at the centre of Australia Day celebrations 2014 in Devonport. The Devonport City Council annual Australia Day Awards ceremony will also see very worthy recipients receive recognition for their major contributions to the community. The awards will feature Woolworths Australia Day ambassador Glenn Todhunter, Pilot - Australia's first and only disabled military and RFDS aviator. The beach party will run from 1pm to 5pm with the Australia Day Awards ceremony in the function centre at the Devonport Surf Club at 2pm. In Australia Day spirit, there will be a traditional Aussie barbecue, and ice-cream and coffee vans will also be on site at the Bluff.
DELORAINE
A special Australia Day Service will be held at St Mark's Anglican Church, Deloraine at 9am. The theme is thoroughly Australia.
DORSET
Australia Day Civic Reception and Awards are presented at the Scottsdale Primary School hall on Saturday, January 25, at 7pm. Australia Day at Tomahawk - A Family Fun Day is held on the beach at Tomahawk on Sunday. The Bridport Splash is held on Australia Day at Croquet Lawn Beach. The event is a joint effort between Dorset Council and Bridport Innovations. Activities include mud wrestling, flag races, sand sculpting, jelly drop, sack races and more.
FLINDERS
Flinders will not be holding any activities to celebrate Australia Day in 2014. This is a free day for Island explorations and private happenings.
GEORGE TOWN
Australia Day Breakfast and Awards Ceremony, in front of the Memorial Hall, Regent Square, George Town at 8.30am. The 2014 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Event of the Year will be announced, along with recognition given to several community organisations. The Family Fun Day at the Low Head Pilot Station Precinct, 11am-6pm, will include live music, market stalls, children's activities, mini golf, 5km Fun Run and food stalls. Bring along some chairs and/or picnic rug and enjoy the day.
GLAMORGAN-SPRING BAY
Australia Day Awards presentation ceremony will be held at the Swansea Town Hall, Swansea at 11am. Woolworths Australia Day Ambassador, Andrew Hughes will present the Australia Day address. The ceremony will be followed by a light luncheon.
KENTISH
The 2014 Kentish Community Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Kentish Healthcare Centre Park, Henry Street, Sheffield at 10am. Free morning tea with entertainment from the Lorinna Glee Band, The Kentish Community Choir and an indigenous performance. Presentation of Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Event of the Year and volunteer awards.
KING ISLAND
The public is welcome to attend Australia Day celebrations on King Island, which will include Posie Graeme-Evans of the Australia Day Ambassador Program, which is sponsored by Woolworths. Activities include chainsaw sculpting, pie eating contest, animal nursery and a free jumping castle. Presentations will be made for citizen, young citizen and community event of the year. The event will be held at the Grassy, with free entry.
LATROBE
The Australia Day Awards presentation will be held at the Australian Axeman's Hall of Fame at 12.15pm. Presented by Premier Lara Giddings. Port Sorell Lions Australia Day waterslide will be held on the banks of the Port Sorell Bowls Club Hill, Meredith Street, Port Sorell, from 9.30am. Henley-on-Mersey at Bells Parade, Latrobe, from 9am to 4pm and will feature ferret racing, race 2 of the Triathlon series, wood chopping, Betta boat race, archery, whip cracking, egg throwing and much more.
LAUNCESTON CITY
The Australia Day awards and citizenship ceremony will be held at the Albert Hall, Launceston from 10am. The City of Launceston RSL Band will perform in the City Park from 12.30pm. Bring along your picnic hamper and celebrate with friends.
MEANDER VALLEY COUNCIL
The public is invited to celebrate Australia Day in Meander Valley at Country Club Tasmania's Mount Pleasant Room, Prospect Vale, from 4.30pm-6pm. Celebrations will include presentations to citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, community event of the year and Mayor Craig Perkins will present a sports award. Volunteer awards will also be presented and a citizenship ceremony will be held. A bbq will be held from 6pm-8pm with entertainment and a community display.
NORTHERN MIDLANDS
Australia Day celebrations at Valentines Park, Campbell Town with proceedings to start with an Interdenominational Church Service at 8.30am, free community breakfast at 9am, official welcome by Mayor Kim Polly, Citizen Ceremony, Australia Day address by Senior Constable Ian Edwards - Council's Australia Day Ambassador and the Australia Day presentations for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Event of the Year and Certificate of Merit. The Evandale Rotary Club will host an event on Australia Day at Pioneer Park, Evandale commencing at 11.30am with the raising of the flag at 12pm, a free community barbecue will be available with entertainment for children. Poatina's Australia Day Free Family Festival, Poatina Village will begin with a parade and ceremony at 11am. The great wheelbarrow race will also be on again.
WARATAH-WYNYARD
The presentation of the Australia Day Citizenship Awards for 2014 will be held in conjunction with the Australia Day Aussie Breakfast at Guttteridge Gardens, Goldie Street, Wynyard at 8am. The Awards will be presented at 9am. The event concludes around 10am. Jane Bennett from Ashgrove Cheese will be the Guest speaker and Australia Day Ambassador.
WEST COAST
The King River, Lake Burbury Picnic commences at 10am with games, competitions, jumping castle and bbq, a fun family day for all. Mayor Robyn Gerrity will announce the recipients of the Australia Day awards at the annual Mount Lyell Strahan Picnic, West Strahan Beach and then present the awards to the recipients. Beach activities, games and competitions.
WEST TAMAR
Australia Day breakfast, 8am-9.30am, in our indoor/outdoor space at the Windsor Cafe, Windsor Community Precinct, Riverside. Australia Day citizenship and awards ceremony from 10am outside at the amphitheatre (opposite the Windsor Community Centre). Greens Beach Family Fun Day, 9am-2pm. Gravelly Beach Australia Day on the Foreshore, 10am-4pm.
