Launceston home furnishings business Winflo Curtains is one city business which registered its event with government initiative Australia Day In The Office, and received $400 for catering and a range of games for their trouble.
Lucille Stubbs has owned the business for 20 years with her husband Mark and moved to a new location in Cimitiere Street.
She said the business would hold a laneway barbecue and entertain with games of cricket, Aussie celebrity heads, and thong throwing to acquaint themselves with their new neighbours and have fun with their customers.
Game winners will be awarded with jars of Vegemite.
"We're doing this to show a bit of community spirit and to build a good relationship with our neighbours, as well as to catch up with people," Mrs Stubbs said. To find an office party in your area, visit www.australiadayintheoffice.com.au.
