The 19-year old Hobart man was interviewed by detectives late yesterday and charged.
Detectives claimed the accused was acting alone when he allegedly shot and murdered a 41-year old just before midnight on Friday.
Hobart CIB acting Detective Inspector Craig Joel, however, said police had not ruled out further arrests.
Police found the man dead in the backyard of a house where he was staying in Pine Avenue Kingston.
The 19-year old was not related to the man.
Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers, and in particular, anyone who might have seen a light blue Mitsubishi Magna in the vicinity of Pine Avenue in Kingston.
The accused is set to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court.
