FORMER George Town paceman Gabe Bell yesterday missed the cut for Australia's under-19 world cup squad, but Tasmania will have some representation with Sean Willis making the final 15-man squad for next month's tournament.
Bell, a Tasmanian Tigers rookie, was part of the initial 30-man squad in December.
South Hobart-Sandy Bay batsman Willis has already tasted success at under-19 level for his country with Cricket Australia national talent manager Greg Chappell labelling him a batsman who has "the ability to make big scores and take us to competitive totals".
The under-19 world cup, which begins on February 14, will be held in the United Arab Emirates.
Australia's squad will be coached by Cricket Australia's high performance coach Graeme Hick.
The squad will depart at the end of this month to play three matches in Sri Lanka as a build-up for the tournament.
Australian squad: Thomas Andrews (NT), Ben Ashkenazi (VIC), James Bazley (QLD), Jake Doran (NSW), Matthew Fotia (VIC), Alex Gregory (SA), Benjamin McDermott (QLD), Jaron Morgan (WA), Damien Mortimer (NSW), Matthew Short (VIC), Kelvin Smith (SA), Billy Stanlake (QLD), Cameron Valente (SA), Guy Walker (VIC), Sean Willis (TAS).
