The Launceston Kart Club will hold a have-a-go day from 10am to 2pm to generate greater interest in the motor sport.
Club promotions officer Stuart Lee said there would be three age categories on the day - 7 to 11, 13 to 16 and 17 and over.
``People will have about 10-minute sessions, which is a fair time out on the race track,'' Lee said.
``All the equipment will be provided on the day.
``Children get entertainment and the skills of learning to drive out of karting.
``All of our young guys go on to get their open licence to drive on the road - their driving skills are much more enhanced because they are actually aware of what's around them.''
Lee said all participants under 18 would need a parent or guardian present to participate.
Cost is $20 a person.
