FIVE Northern cricketers will head to Adelaide tomorrow as part of the state under-17 cricket team to contest the national championships.

South Launceston's Alec Smith, Josh Freestone and Charlie Eastoe and Mowbray's Alex Jordan and Fletcher Seymour have been selected for the state team.
The national under-17 championships run from January 13 to 23 and will involve the Tasmanian side playing two one-day games and three two-dayers against interstate opposition.
North Hobart cricketer Caleb Jewell will captain the state side, with Smith acting as his vice-captain.
It will be the second state representation this year for Smith who was also picked in the state under-19 team which played in the national championships in Hobart last month. The Tasmanian team is being coached by Cricket Tasmania youth pathways high performance manager Lachlan Stevens and Darren McNees.
``It is always hard to know what the other state teams are going to be like but it will be a great learning curve for all our state team members,'' Cricket Tasmania Northern regional manager Clinton Reid said.
``You approach every game as if you expect to win and that's the attitude we like our players to play with.''
