SOME elements of the Scottsdale harness races have certainly changed in the dozen or so years Bec Davey and Lee Nichols have attended the annual race meeting.
The day of the event, the time of the races, and the amount of entertainment on offer have all been tinkered with over time.
But lounging around in front of the grandstand in the lead-up to the night's main race, the pair explained it was the aspects of the event that haven't changed at all that they cherished the most.
``It's always such a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere,'' Ms Davey said.
The couple watched on as Alani, 5, and Pacey, 3, impressed them with handstands and tumble turns on manicured lawns.
``It's great to be able to pack a picnic and bring the girls down for a special treat,'' Ms Davey said.
``They just love it here, and being able to bring them along with us makes things so straightforward.''
