Search and Rescue was notified about 1pm about an injured walker on the side of The Acropolis in the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park.
The South Australian woman, 35, had fallen, injured her leg and was unable to move.
The police rescue helicopter was activated and lowered a paramedic and police rescue crewman down to the scene.
Weather conditions were poor, with strong wind, low cloud and snow.
The woman was treated very briefly and then winched to safety.
