The duo had decked the house with festive lights for four years, but his grandfather Garry Alomes died from a brain tumour last year.
This year, 14-year-old Ashley found a special way to pay tribute, placing a collection tin in front of his colourful display four days before Christmas.
In less than two weeks, passers-by had donated $657.05.
Yesterday Ashley presented the money to Holman Clinic manager Grant Smith, as thanks to clinic staff for treating both his grandfather and grandmother at the same time.
"I just wanted to support the people here, I got to know everyone that works here," Ashley said.
His grandmother Chris Alomes, who is now in remission, was crying as she watched her grandson hand the money over.
"His grandpa would be so proud ... he put in so much effort," she said.
"And the clinic staff were wonderful, they are absolutely wonderful people, they spent so much time with us."
