McCurley keeps quartet at bay

DEVONPORT Carnival's day-two women's A-grade scratch race produced exactly the same result as its day-one equivalent.

A day after Victorian Shannon McCurley led home the junior world championship quartet of Tasmanians Amy Cure, Georgia Baker and Macey Stewart and Josie Talbot, of New South Wales, the same five managed to repeat the places to perfection.

The men's event featured a South Australian clean sweep with former Burnie Wheel winner George Tansley adding the title to the invitation miss and out he had won earlier in the evening and the Devonport criterium he won the previous day.

However, the previous night's Mersey Wheel winner had to settle for second in the 2000m handicap won by blossoming Hobart teenager Gerald Evans in 2:12.62.
