The 16-year-old, Damien Lawler- trained runner was a finalist in the gift last year and finished fifth, but ran strongly from her mark of 25 metres and had too much power in the home straight grabbing the lead to beat home Bruny Island runner Michelle Davis (32m) and another Hobart teenager Lilly Castle (26m) in a time of 55.35.
The victory was her first TAL win after four second placings.
"It feels awesome to win - I just wanted to give everything I had because there was an awesome group of girls out there," she said.
"I didn't think I had it and was waiting for someone to come up beside me but in the last 20 metres I couldn't see anyone beside me so I knew I had it then.
"The 400 here was my main focus and I've got the 200m tomorrow and the Burnie Gift so I'm looking forward to it."
A St Mary's College student, Scott said she felt good throughout the race and the win was the biggest of her young career.
