Saturday night's fire started about midnight in a unit on Pioneer Parade.
When emergency services arrived the home was well ablaze. The fire is estimated to have caused $130,000 damage.
The occupant was not home at the time and nobody was injured in the fire.
Investigators for the Tasmania Fire Service yesterday determined the fire had been deliberately lit and handed investigations over to Tasmania Police.
It is the ninth deliberately lit house fire in the North since July.
It follows a torched home in Rosetta Place on Friday, December 20.
In that incident the occupant was home, but managed to escape without injury.
Tasmania Police has urged anyone who witnessed either fires or has information in relation to them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Launceston Police Station on 6336 3701.
