In the period from Monday to midnight last night:
-16 drivers were nabbed for drink driving
-175 drivers were caught speeding
- Four people returned positive drug tests
- 266 traffic infringement notices were issued
- and three motorists had their cars clamped or confiscated.
Thirty-eight licence offences were recorded, which shared the biggest increase of 26 per cent with traffic infringement notices.
The Australia and New Zealand operation started is aimed at highlighting the importance of road safety during the Christmas and New Year period.
The campaign continues until January 3.
