Bailey challenged

HOBART Hurricanes captain George Bailey has been challenged to match his 28-run plunder of a single James Anderson over.

Bailey equalled the Test record for most runs in an over when he carted the English paceman during the third match of the Ashes series in Perth.

Hurricanes coach Damien Wright has ordered more of the same from the Australian Twenty20 captain in tomorrow's Big Bash League clash with the Adelaide Strikers.

``George's form in Test cricket's pretty suited to Twenty20,'' Wright said in Hobart.

``I've just told him that every bowler he faces when he gets here is James Anderson.''

Bailey is one of three Test squad members to be released to play the BBL before the Boxing Day Test.

``After winning the Ashes and being a part of that, he's on a real high, so we're going to ride the wave with him and let him have a lot of fun,'' Wright said.

Also capable of producing fireworks at Bellerive will be the world's No. 1 T20 batsman, Alex Hales, who will line up for the Strikers.

Hales averages 39 at a strike rate of 135 for England and smashed 94 from 61 balls against Australia in August.

Wright said his side could not afford to go into the game without a plan for the 24-year-old.

``You have to, he's such a dangerous player and can have a huge impact,'' Wright  said.

``We'll have some plans in place to make sure that he doesn't go particularly well.''

Hobart's English all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a broken jaw suffered when he copped a bouncer at training on Friday.

But in positive news for the Hurricanes, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik arrived in Hobart yesterday and Wright said he was ready to play.

``More or less it just will be whether he got enough sleep on the flight,'' Wright said.
