Police seek help over diesel theft

LAUNCESTON police have appealed for the public's help after a series of diesel thefts this month.

Burglars have broken into businesses at Invermay, Mowbray and Newstead to steal the fuel from machinery within properties.

The thieves have also broken fences and locks to gain access.

Newnham Constable Mandy Ladson said police wanted to speak to anyone with information about a 1989 Mitsubishi Lancer, in red or brown, with mag wheels fitted to the front wheels only, which had been seen in the area of the thefts.

Constable Ladson said witnesses could call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference numbers 478190, 478439, 478437 or 478412.
