WHEN: Tonight, gates open at 5pm, carols start at 7pm.
WHERE: Launceston's City Park.
ENTRY: Adults $5, children $2 (includes safe-flame candles).
IT WILL be lovely weather for a sleigh ride at Launceston's City Park tonight - and maybe even some carols.
The stage has been set and all that is left to prepare for tonight's Carols by Candlelight are the sound checks.
Sound checks will be held most of today before gates open at 5pm for families to set up their picnic blankets.
Event organiser Danny Gibson said carols would start at 7pm and, if all went to plan, the man most children wanted to see would arrive after 8pm.
``Obviously Santa is very busy at this time of year, but we've put in a request and, as long as he can get away from the toy shop, then the Launceston Airport is preparing for him to arrive between 8pm and 8.40pm,'' Gibson said.
``I don't know if he'll be arriving on a sleigh but it will be interesting to see how he does arrive.''
More than 100 musicians will perform at Carols by Candlelight including Australia's Got Talent finalist Reuben Koops, former The Voice contestant Juliane Di ?Sisto, Felicity Shaw, Henry Strong and Nicholas Connelley.
The day is forecast to be sunny and 25 degrees.
Gibson hoped the event would raise more than $15,000 for The Examiner's Empty Stocking Appeal.
