Enjoy the carols, help fill a stocking

HERE comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Cimitiere Street.

The countdown is on for Sunday's Carols by Candlelight in Launceston and organiser Danny Gibson is excited.

He promised ``amazing'' Northern Tasmanian entertainers at the alcohol and smoke-free evening hosted by Southern Cross Television's Jo Palmer.

The volunteer-driven event was made possible by the Rotary Club of Tamar Valley Sunrise and Vos Construction after fears it would not go ahead.

``Everyone loves carols, so with a re-vitalised enthusiasm we've worked to see it go ahead,'' Mr Gibson said.

``Come and sing along.''

The evening is the largest fund-raiser for The Examiner  Empty Stocking Appeal, the proceeds of which are distributed among four Northern Tasmanian charities. The 2013 song-book will be available in The Examiner   today.comon Friday
