If so, the state's motorist representative body is advising people to make sure their vehicles are roadworthy and safe now before they take off over the Christmas-New Year period.
RACT motoring services manager Peter Gillon said yesterday that it was not good getting out your holiday gear two days before departure.
``If your car is due for a scheduled service, then do it before you go away,'' Mr Gillon said.
``If it's not due for a service then still consider taking it into a service centre for a pre-holiday check.
``Alternatively, if you're mechanically minded, undertake your own checks to ensure your vehicle is ready for your trip.''
Mr Gillon said people should start preparations now and check everything from tyres, fluid levels, cooling systems and lights.
``Check your bearings, grease what you need to grease, your chains are good, your wirings working and the vehicle is registered,'' he said.
Mr Gillon said it was a busier time for the RACT with more people spending time on the road.
