A 25-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, both of Queenstown, were employees of Copper Mines of Tasmania.
Emergency services attended the site just before 11am today, where two workers were reported to be seriously injured.
Both men died at the scene as a result of their injuries.
One man's body remains at the site, while the other has been taken to the West Coast District Hospital at Queenstown.
Next of kin of the men have been notified.
Investigations into the accident are continuing.
Police forensics, Workplace Standards and the coroner are attending the scene.
