A 47-year-old Beaconsfield man is dead after his motorcycle collided with a Holden ute this morning.
The accident occurred as the rider travelled along Beaconsfield's Margaret Street hitting the ute as it reversed in to the driveway.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to revive him by paramedics failed.
The 77-year-old Holden driver was badly shaken but did not suffer any injuries.
Police said early investigations indicate the speed of the bike was a contributing factor in the crash.
Today's crash is the second fatal motorcycle accident this weekend.
Yesterday a 58-year-old rider died after his bike crashed on the Brooker Highway at Claremont.
His 17-year-old pillion passenger was injured.
Reports for both accidents are being prepared for the coroner.
