Taylor, Lynch get team over line in close finish

A HALF-CENTURY from Launceston's Alistair Taylor helped his team to victory against Westbury in the opening of the NTCA Twenty20 competition for this season.

In a close finish, Launceston needed 12 off the final two overs, chasing Westbury's 8-111.

With the scores level, Cameron Lynch hit a six off the second last ball of the match to win the game for the Lions.

Riverside defeated Mowbray by 12 runs at their match at Invermay Park.

Mowbray finished on 8-94, chasing Riverside's 106.

Although George Town Cricket Club's match was rained out after one over the club still had cause to celebrate.

The team, which was due to play South Launceston at Crothers Oval, yesterday opened its new clubrooms.
