Launceston made short work of George Town thanks to a Ben Fraser hat-trick, Latrobe notched its first win for the season against Devonport, and Wynyard got over South Launceston in a thrilling finish.
Wet pitches forced the abandonment of the Westbury v Sheffield and Riverside v Burnie Hurricanes matches, with teams sharing the points.
Wynyard v South Launceston
In the match of the round, South Launceston batted first and racked up an impressive total of 8-223, with Mark Nutting (92) leading the charge.
He hit seven fours and two sixes and had great support from Tom Waller (27) and Alec Smith (48).
Marcus Gee (3-38) was the pick of Wynyard's bowlers, with Todd Chatwin (2-22) and Aaron Butler (2-65) also among the wickets.
In reply Wynyard got off to a great start, with Nick Granger (42) and Jarrod Willcox (25) putting together a 63-run opening stand, before Graham Donaldson (2-42) brought them undone.
Nick Pearce (45) kept Wynyard in touch with the required run rate before Gregg Sharman (36) and Todd Chatwin (25) took over and looked to have Wynyard across the line.
However, a wonderful second spell from Kyle Bowie (3-26) turned the game on its head, and Wynyard needed 11 runs off eight balls with three wickets remaining.
Kade Bellinger seized the moment and struck two mighty sixes off Casey Young in the final over to guide the Blues to victory with three balls remaining.
Launceston v George Town
Heavy rain overnight delayed the start of play at the NTCA Ground and the match was reduced to 29 overs a side.
The Lions won the toss and elected to bat, and this paid huge dividends as they knocked George Town over for just 61. State under-19 hopeful Ben Fraser demolished the Saints' top order, dismissing Marshall Pooley, Rohan Pooley and Zach Cooke in successive deliveries to claim a hat-trick on the way to the impressive figures of 4-13 from six overs. Rowan Smith (3-4) then knocked over the George Town lower order, with Harry Bolland (13) the only batsman to reach double figures.
In reply Launceston made short work of the run chase, cruising to 1-62 from 16.5 overs, and secured a bonus point in the process.
Devonport v Latrobe
Wet pitch surrounds reduced the match to 38 overs a side, with Latrobe winning the toss and electing to bat. Callan Morse (44), Trent Keep (52) and Sean Gower (39) led the Demons' batting charge, cleverly rotating the strike with regular singles while putting away any loose deliveries.
Scott Mitchell (2-26) and Oliver Robinson (2-30) did their best to restrict Latrobe's scoring rate, with the visitors finishing their allotted overs at 6-171.
In reply the Orions only had one significant partnership, with Tyler Dell (45) and Scott Mitchell (27) adding 65 runs for the third wicket. As the required run-rate increased, Devonport's lower order found the asking rate too tough, with the Orions losing their last five wickets for four runs to be bowled out for 138. Dion Parsons celebrated his 100th game in fine style, taking 3-18, while 50-gamer Micheal Bishop (3-26) and Sean Gower (3-19) helped turn the game in the Demons' favour.
Ulverstone v Mowbray
Reigning CNW premier Ulverstone continued its unbeaten start. Batting first, the home team accumulated 8-215 from its 50 overs, with Jordan Kelly (57) and Harry Smith (42)in an 81-run fourth-wicket partnership.
In response Mowbray was looking good for a while with Michael Aram (31) and Jon Le Fevre (26) at the crease. However, their dismissal spelled the end of Mowbray's challenge as Ulverstone's Darren Rossiter (3-32) and Jacob Snare (3-34) got among the wickets.
The Eagles were eventually bowled out for 121 in the 41st over.
