AN IMPRESSIVE 16 records were set at the Launceston Christian School athletics carnival at St Leonards.
PE teacher Ryan Bosker said outstanding participation levels meant that the 1500-metre event would be run next week, so there were no final scores yet between the houses of Barrow, Tamar and Melaleuca.
"We had a great carnival with excellent weather and record participation levels," he said.
Mitchell Gowen (grade 11-12) was the standout performer, setting records in the 100m, 200m, 400m, discus, high jump and long jump, while grade 8 student Jonothan Burk set records in the high jump and triple jump and grade 7's Kezra DeHaan did the same in the high jump and long jump, the latter breaking a 20-year- old benchmark by 13 centimetres.
In the girls' competition, records were set by grade 10's Eve Gowen in the long jump and triple jump, grade 9's Rebecca Richardson in the 100m and triple jump and Maddie Pitt (grade 11-12) in the discus.
