TASMANIAN all-rounder Luke Butterworth has overcome his back problems and has been declared fit for duty for Tasmania's opening clash of its Sheffield Shield title defence.
Butterworth has today been named in the squad to face New South Wales at Blacktown from Wednesday, but batsman Mark Cosgrove has failed to recover from his broken thumb.
Wicketkeeper Tim Paine will again captain the side in George Bailey's absence, with Launceston's Alex Doolan to act as his deputy.
Spinner Clive Rose and paceman Andrew Fekete are in line for their first class debut for the Tigers if selected in the final XI.
Tasmanian squad: Tim Paine (c), Alex Doolan (vc), Luke Butterworth, Ed Cowan, Ben Dunk, Andrew Fekete, Evan Gulbis, Ben Hilfenhaus, Sam Rainbird, Clive Rose, Jordan SIlk, Jon Wells.
