However, you look at the trouble that some of these bikie gangs have caused it certainly does not warrant the headlines that are all to frequent.
I found it amusing that 700 party goers invited over social media in Melbourne could totally destroy someone's home, but that hardly rated a mention in a popular Melbourne newspaper. Instead, the front page headline was all about the annual ride that the Outlaw Motorcycle Club was to embark on and the extent of police presence. No laws were broken but it still rated news headlines.
I think Annabel Crabb (The Examiner, October 21), has hit the nail on the head by the over reaction that these newspaper articles have had on politicians who realise that law and order issues are great vote winners, no matter who in society has their human rights trodden on.
Nothing has been written about criminal organisations that make millions of dollars out of drugs and extortion rackets.
The triads and Mafia are worldwide and have organised crime syndicates in every country.
We hear about outlaw bikies because they ride around in public view and are an easy target.
The draconian legislation that the Queensland government has introduced will send the outlaw bikie gangs underground, nothing will change.
