TASMANIAN boxers have left the world championships without a win.
The state's two representatives in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Latrobe clubmates Jackson Woods and Dylan Hardy, both lost narrowly in their first bouts.
Just a day after his 20th birthday, Hardy went down to Hungary's Norbert Harcsa in the men's 81-kilogram light heavyweight division.
In three very tight rounds, Harcsa twice won 29-28 before a third-round 28-28 tie to claim the contest 2-0.
Both fighters had received first-round byes and Harcsa progressed to a third-round showdown with sixth-seeded Irishman Joe Ward this afternoon.
Hardy's loss came three days after fellow 20-year-old Woods went down 2-1 in his first-round encounter with Bulgarian Stefan Ivanov.
