AN EAST Coast pilot has landed without incident despite not having the benefit of wheels.
The 71-year-old took off from the St Helens airstrip just before midday yesterday when he was forced to return after his landing gear jammed.
Tasmania Police said the emergency landing saw the Beechcraft Baron twin-engine land on its undercarriage on the airstrip.
The pilot who is from St Helens was not injured, however, paramedics attended as a precaution.
He had taken off from the St Helens airstrip in his light aircraft after conducting some maintenance.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau were notified but did not attend the scene.
