RUNNERS, walkers and sponsors have raised a record amount of money from the Run For A Wish charity fun run in Launceston today.
The annual Make-A-Wish Australia run or walk had 400-metre and 6.4-kilometre events which started and finished at Aurora Stadium this morning.
Everyone from serious athletes to the casual runner to parents pushing their children in prams or carrying them in their arms, took part.
About 550 participants ran or walked the event.
Organising committee member Michelle Frost said the first year of the event raised $18,000, while this year the total would be $28,000.
The money will help grant wishes to children and other young people who are suffering from serious and life-threatening medical conditions, for example, if they wanted to travel overseas.
