THE ex-husband of a former Tasmanian MP is feared dead in a plane crash in Laos that also killed a Sydney family of four.
Michael Creighton, 41, was married to former Tasmanian state MP Kathryn Hay during her term in parliament and was the Australian manager of humanitarian organisation Norwegian People's Aid.
His father Gordon Bruce Creighton was also reportedly on board.
The Laos Airlines plane was travelling from Vientiant to Pakse and crashed in the Mekong River last night, at 2.45pm local time.
Its passengers are listed as missing but a statement from Mr Creighton's employer said it was unlikely there would be any survivors.
The Tasmanian parliament was informed of Mr Creighton's death in question time today by Children's Minister Michelle O'Byrne, who expressed her condolences on behalf of the house for Ms Hay.
