AFTER wet weather delayed the start of the Launceston Touch Association season by one week, competition finally kicked off at Prospect Park yesterday.
General manager Emma Anderson said close to 98 teams and 1000 competitors had already registered for the 2013-14 season.
``Touch is a great way for people to keep up their fitness in a non-contact sport, which is very appealing to people,'' Anderson said.
``People like the fast movement of the games and it is very short - two 20-minute halves.''
Games are played on most days of the week at 6pm, 6.55pm and 7.50pm, with five rounds throughout the year where all competitors play on Sunday.
Monday: mixed teams.
