SHE MAY not sing often, but when she does, it's golden.
Westbury singer-harpist Joanne Mitchelson said she fell into her multi-talented role at yesterday's launch of the Westbury Week celebrations.
Although she may be bashful, the artist-musician has been heralded for her work in creating an Irish-styled ballad to encapsulate the town's feel.
The written tune, which has been selected as a theme for this week's activities, came as a going away present for one of the town residents.
Mitchelson said she was working on a commission painting of the Westbury Village Green when the idea for the song struck.
``She still hasn't heard it, she's been living in Victoria, but she'll be here tonight,'' Mitchelson said yesterday.
``I was meant to be performing it with another lady who sings, but she can't make it, so I'll actually be singing and playing it for her, which is very exciting.''
Last night's harp, poetry and song concert at the Westbury Town Hall was part of the town's annual Westbury Week event.
The week each year includes historical displays, workshops, community events, concerts, demonstrations and more.
