FORMER Miss Nude World Cassandra Jane will perform a special homecoming show in Launceston tonight.
Jane's appearance comes on the tails of a stack of burlesque performances in the North this year as the seductive art weaves its way back into the city's nightlife.
Jane has performed strip routines for work and competitions for the past 16 years after leaving Launceston aged 18.
She said her tease routines early on were steeped in vintage with her look inspired by the starlets of Hollywood's golden age of cinema.
Jane said it was a natural progression to move into burlesque five years ago and has won accolades for her shows since.
She said burlesque was tease with glamour and class, adding that her first of many costumes cost $15,000 -$7000 of which were Swarovski crystals.
Jane said performance involved a great deal of thought, creativity, fitness and skill.
"It's tantalising without the vulgarity," Jane said.
"It's sexy but not sexual.
"It is empowering performing as a striptease artist but I get a better sense of satisfaction with burlesque."
The dancer will perform two signature routines at the Lazy Butterfly in York Town Square tonight.
The first award- winning piece will be a classical corset-and- glove removal routine.
The second, entitled Coco Bananas, will be performed in an elaborate costume, inspired by Carmen Miranda and Josephine Baker, which won her Miss Nude World 2012. Tickets are $15 on the door. Doors open at 8pm.
