TASMANIA'S unemployment rate has stopped rising but still sits as the worst in the country after the release of new jobless figures this morning.
The state's jobless rate is 8.5 per cent; steady after August's result was naturally revised down from 8.6 per cent.
The result also shows 21,300 jobseekingTasmanians, up 100 on August.
The national unemployment figure has fallen to 5.6 per cent in seasonally adjusted figures, down 0.2 per cent since last month.
South Australia is the country's next worst performing state, almost two full percentage points lower than Tasmania, at 6.6 per cent.
