A GEORGE TOWN man who was arrested after committing a string of driving offences and setting his car alight was trying to be involved in a documentary, according to police.
The 51-year-old was arrested and charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, disobeying anti-hooning legislation and exceeding the alcohol limit after lighting his car on fire in a vacant lot.
He later recorded .185 when tested for alcohol at George Town Police Station.
The alleged incident occurred on Anne Street, the same street as George Town Council Chambers.
The Examiner understands producers of television show Housos were in the area filming for a new television show.
Crews have travelled Australia ``looking for the best bogan in Australia''.
It is understood a separate man from the George Town area was being filmed after successfully auditioning for the title when the George Town man interrupted.
He was unrelated to the film crew.
