THE season of bright colour is upon us and it doesn't get more apparent than when tulips bloom.
Van Diemen Quality Bulbs, in Wynyard, had its first open day yesterday after tulip varieties First Kiss and World's Favourite began to bloom this month.
The flower farm is set to yield its biggest harvest this year with a larger planting area of eight hectares.
It will now be open to the public to view for the next month.
Van Diemen Quality Bulbs retail manager David Roberts- Thomson said more than 80 varieties of tulips would eventually bloom across the season.
He said every colour except blue would be seen in the flowers.
"There is the full spectrum. I've been out there this morning and there were some purples that were looking pretty good, and some pink shades," Mr Roberts- Thomson said.
"There is a great show of our early tulips, but next weekend will be an even better period - especially if people are interested in photography, it is a stunning place to take photos."
Mr Roberts- Thomson said workers would be busy tending the lines of tulips as visitors to the farm enjoyed the floral displays.
Van Diemen Quality Bulbs at 363 Lighthouse Road, Wynyard, will be open from 9am to 5pm.
