Police are continuing their investigations into a fire that obliterated at house at Rosebery yesterday.
Emergency services attended the fire at Cross Street at Rosebery about 10.30am yesterday.
Police today said that they had interviewed a child, who confirmed that he had been at the house when the fire had started and had been lighting candles.
The boy was not injured.
Police are trying to determine if the fire was accidental or deliberate.
The house had been vacant for some months.
It was destroyed, with the damage bill coming to about $200,000, including contents.
Its owner is not related to the boy and is based on the North-West Coast.
