A TASMANIAN man was among those killed in a massacre at shopping mall in Kenya yesterday.
At least 68 people are reported dead in the siege, which began early Sunday morning Tasmanian time and ended more than 30 hours later when Kenyan forces stormed the Westgate mall in Nairobi this morning.
AAP reports that 10 to 15 members of islamist militant group al-Shabab militants entered the five-storey mall and began throwing grenades and firing on civilians.
More than 200 people are injured.
The UK-Australian national killed in the attack is believed to be a Tasmanian man.
The ABC reports the man was an architect and studied at the University of Tasmania.
The Examiner understands the man's family have asked for their privacy to be respected.
