LAUNCESTON owner Doug McKillop was relieved to see his promising filly Miley Rose mend her manners and score her first win in the Botra Stakes at Mowbray last night.

Miley Rose galloped at the start and failed to complete the course when making her debut at the same track last month, then was put on her last chance by stewards after breaking in Hobart last week.
However trainer Bill Dornauf and his son Duncan, the filly's regular driver, have spent many hours getting her back on track and were rewarded when she worked to the front at the 1400-metre mark of last night's race and kept going strongly to beat Rampling and Chirac.
Unfortunately for Duncan Dornauf, he had to forego the winning drive after being kicked in the knee by a horse during the week and was replaced by Nathan Ford.
McKillop, who bred Miley Rose and is a part-owner, said it was ``nice to see her do the right thing''.
``Her grand-sire is Commandaway and that breed can be a bit touchy,'' McKillop said.
``That's why Nathan decided to let her run along tonight rather than try to hold her up.''
Miley Rose is the third foal to race from 2006 Devonport Cup winner Terrific Lass.
The first, Another Harry, was a trotter as distinct from pacer and didn't win in 28 starts.
Her second, Stylish Ruler, has won two races.
