HIKING boots, clean clothes and almost $2000 in donations will leave Australia with Susan Richardson this week.
The Kings Meadows woman, who flies to Kathmandu on Friday, has been fund-raising for Butterfly Child Care Centre in Nepal for about eight months.
Ms Richardson said the centre, run by close Nepalese friends, enabled disadvantaged parents to seek work.
``It helps the poorest, most disadvantaged families in Pokhara,'' she said.
``Instead of going to the fields or begging, it enables them to learn.''
Children at Butterfly Child Care Centre are given a meal and lessons in English and music, Ms Richardson said.
``It helps break the cycle of poverty.''
Ms Richardson, an early childcare worker who has visited Nepal more than 10 times, will spend time volunteering with the children.
She said donations had been flying in internationally via Facebook and Bridport Fitness Academy owner Raine Lambert-Miers donated a month's worth of proceeds from a cardio and grit class to the cause.
Just $10 helps feed a child at the centre for a month.
