ATTENDEES of yesterday's Girl's Night In shopping event in Launceston might be surprised to hear of the fund- raiser's humble beginnings.
The 50-stall extravaganza, held for the first time at Grand Chancellor, started seven years ago in Vicki Hancock's lounge room.
"It's just blossomed," Ms Hancock said.
More than 1000 people poured through the hotel's doors throughout the day, raising more than $2000 for Relay for Life team Pink Ribbons and the Cancer Council.
Stalls sold everything from lingerie to balloons and all door and raffle ticket proceeds went directly to the cause.
Ms Hancock said the cause was personal.
"Cancer has affected my family and it's a good way to give back," she said.
Co-organiser Samantha Derbyshire said she hoped to continue holding the event at the inner-city venue.
