Slogans from a new campaign by the Police Association of Tasmania will soon decorate the backs of buses.
The campaign, launched today by association president Pat Allen, will target the police cuts made by the state government.
Lines such as ''Police Numbers SLASHES . . . Public Safety UNDERMINED'' and ''The Police Association has NO CONFIDENCE in this LABOR/GREEN GOVERNMENT'' will appear on four Metro buses throughout the state.
''The ratio of police to population has been slashed from 1:416 to 1:468 in just 30 months,'' Mr Allen said.
He said that in March 2011, Tasmanians were served by 1228 police offers, and, last week, were served by 1093.2 officers.
The last time the police association campaigned against the government was in 1989-1992 against then-Premier Michael Field.
