A MAN is dead after a single motor vehicle crash at Lemont yesterday.
Tasmania Police is investigating whether the 27-year- old had attended the ODFA grand final in Oatlands on Saturday.
Police were alerted to the crash on the gravel York Plains Road about 6.40am yesterday.
Sergeant Rob King, of Oatlands Police, said it was apparent the crash happened in the early hours of Sunday.
"While investigations are continuing into the cause of the crash, it appears that the deceased was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time," he said.
The man is from Magra near New Norfolk, but is believed to have ties within the Southern Midlands community. He was not a player, club member or official of Mount Pleasant or Campania football clubs which contested the grand final.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that alcohol consumption, speed or road conditions were possible contributing factors.
Police are reminding drivers to exercise caution and drive to the conditions at all times.
The crash saw the road between Nala Road and Stonehouse Road closed for several hours while accident investigators examined its cause.
Tasmania's road toll for 2013 stands at 20.
