More than 120 competitors showed their darkly bronzed buff bodies to the judges in front of a packed Princess Theatre.
In the titles co-ordinated by the International Natural Bodybuilding Association, all competitors signed a drug-free agreement and were tested at the event to ensure that their physiques were naturally defined.
Association Tasmanian president Don Macdonald said the strong participation was the result of the introduction of new divisions and a growing interest in an athletic appearance.
Previous years had seen about 40 competitors, Mr Macdonald said.
Throughout the day there were various competition categories ranging from Ms Bikini Model and Male Athlete to novices.
Kate Proessler was named Ms Physique Tasmania and Joshua McGrath was crowned the 2013 Mr Tasmania champion.
"Both male and female seemed to meet the criteria to a tee," Mr Macdonald said.
"I was impressed with their level and would expect they will be extremely competitive [at the national competition in October]."
