DANCE extravaganza Dance Fever will hit the stage next week after hours of hard rehearsals.
The Launceston College event features close to 300 primary and high school students and about 100 Launceston College students.
Launceston College dance teacher Tanya Lanham said the event was centred around a theme of icons with dances based on well-loved television shows, productions, dances, movies or speeches.
``Every piece sticks in that theme,'' she said.
Ms Lanham said her favourite piece followed the story of stage production The Lion King .
``It's a medley piece, it starts out slow and contemporary and goes to hip-hop,'' she said.
Dance Fever was a good way for high school students to get their bearings at the college and good experience for Launceston College's prospective dance teachers, Ms Lanham said.
``We've had some ex-students come back to choreograph as well.''
Dance Fever is on Wednesday and Thursday at Door of Hope in Launceston. Tickets are $15 or concession for $10 and available at the door from 6pm or at Launceston College's office before the event. The show begins at 6.30pm.
