ESSENDON believes it is "not far away" from re- signing former Launceston ruckman Thomas Bellchambers, who has reportedly attracted interest from rival clubs including Greater Western Sydney.
Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said on the club's website yesterday that he believed an agreement between club and player would happen soon.
"Obviously Tom Bellchambers is out of contract and I am extremely optimistic that we can get that one done," he said.
"We are not far away at all in talking with his management."
Bellchambers has gone on the record saying he would prefer to stay a Bomber, despite offers from other clubs.
The 24-year-old played 18 games this year, averaging 10 touches, four marks and 22 hit-outs.
