A PORT Sorell man was last night in hospital in a critical and unstable condition with abdominal and chest injuries after a 900 kilogram industrial mower collapsed on him at Invermay.
The man, 39, was working under the machine at Pellows Saws and Mowers when the jack gave way, Tasmania Police Senior Sergeant Paul Reynolds said.
The man was discovered by colleagues and family who work at the mowing store.
Launceston Duty Sergeant Scott McKinnell said other staff were around when the machine fell and rang police and ambulance for assistance.
Three Ambulance Tasmania crews attended and paramedics performed CPR on the man.
He was taken to the Launceston General Hospital.
Sergeant McKinnell said last night the man was in the intensive care unit in a critical and unstable condition.
Fire crews and Workplace Standards investigators attended the incident.
