LAUNCESTON'S Northern under- 18 side will travel to Devonport today to play the Magpies in the grand final of the regional competition.
The clash features the minor premier Devonport against the Blues who finished second, with the game to be played after the Devonport versus North Hobart senior game.
Head-to-head, the two teams have a 2-2 record this season.
The Launceston team is coached by Tim Elliott, and is made up of players primarily from within the club's zone - the Launceston and Tamar Cats juniors.
The Northern region under-18 competition provides a pathway for these players to play football at the highest level.
A number of players in the Launceston team have had the experience of playing at colts level in the TSL competition this season.
Launceston is the reigning premier in the regional under-18s and is looking to defend its title against Devonport, which has had an excellent season in its first year in the competition.
