Sinclair made the big move from Townsville to Launceston this season to coach the Torns after playing with the club in 2008 and understands the unique place that the Tornadoes hold in the SEABL competition.

"We are talking about a club that has been known as the team that against all odds, grabbed a SEABL championship with a team of local players," she said.

"Although this was way back in '95, the club has carried this legacy on for years, being finals contenders in four seasons."

Studying a master's degree in sports coaching through the University of Queensland, Sinclair has been willing to suit up for the Tornadoes to add some much-needed height to the side this season.

"We were unable to secure a post player this season, which has been difficult, so I have suited up," she said.

"It's not ideal, but it has been enjoyable hitting the court again in some way.

"I am very proud of the girls. They have really given all the SEABL teams a run for their money, despite our height disadvantage and lack of experience.

"A priority next year will be to secure a post player, and this will no doubt make us more competitive in the league for next season and will add some much-needed strength to this core group that we have."

Sinclair said she had loved being a part of the Tornadoes and was proud of the achievements in this rebuilding year.

"The community are clearly proud of this team, and the support has been unbelievable," she said.

"I think it is fantastic that a women's team gets so much community support and we must make sure we take advantage of this and develop the local product."

With Sinclair hopefully at the helm again next season, the club plans to continue to field a team dominated by local talent, supported by quality imports.

"We have a club policy to limit interstate imports to a maximum of two," Tornadoes chairwoman Janie Finlay said.

The Tornadoes play Nunawading tonight in their final game of the season at the Elphin Sports Centre.
