NORTHERN Tasmania won't find money to help solve its international sea freight problems in the federal Liberal Tasmania plan.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has just told a packed business breakfast of party faithful in Launceston that he will announce $38 million for a major Hobart Airport upgrade later today.
``We will do this so that it can take the biggest jets and provide an air freight option as sea freight difficulties are worked out,'' Mr Abbott said.
There will instead be money for a new study on how to solve the challenges of sea freight.
A federal Liberal government will set up a Tasmanian one stop federal approvals agency at Launceston for major projects valued at $50 million or more.
Mr Abbott also told his early morning audience that there would be another $24 million for Tasmania for the Antarctic Research centre in Hobart.
He will travel to Hobart later today.
